7 Steps to build the life you see in your future
From what I’ve seen and experienced with clients past and present (and from my own personal story), I believe that everyone has the potential to build the life that gives enjoyment and satisfaction, whatever that may be.
Get clear on your vision
The first step in building the life you want is to have a clear vision. Take time to reflect on what truly matters to you. Ask yourself:
What are the things I hold in great importance ? (Core Values)
What are things I’d like to spend time working towards? (Long terms goals)
What does a fulfilling life look like to me? How do I spend each moment of the day that generates balance, satisfaction and enjoyment in my life?
Write down your thoughts, or if writing doesn’t do it for you, get creative with pictures, create a vision board, or journal regularly. Getting a clear vision of what your days could look like, could serve as your roadmap and keep you motivated.
2. Set goals and develop your plan
Once your vision is clear, break it down into manageable steps by setting some really clear goals (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound). For example, instead of a wish list… "I want to improve my career," try "I will research what I enjoy, and complete an online course within the next six months. This will build my skill and understanding." This approach makes your goals tangible and trackable.
Now, identify the steps you need to take to reach each goal. Consider:
What resources do I need?
What support do I need ?
Who could that support come from?
What’s going to sop me from achieving my goals?
What obstacles might I face, and how can I overcome them?
A well thought out plan provides structure and direction. By having real clarity in your vision can help give a clearer path. However it doesn’t mean it can’t change, at any point in time, you can tweak and change that vision, you’re in charge….. it just gives you a clearer path.
3. Take action
Sounds obvious, but it needs to be said. No plan succeeds without action. Start taking steps (no matter how small) towards your goals. Try to be consistent and keep going - making sure you celebrate your progress along the way to help you stay motivated. The frequency of taking action also has a bearing on the success of your achievement. If you’re set on taking small and frequent actions, your motivation will thank you for each one. It reminds you of the path you are taking and that you are heading towards it however long it takes you.
4. Be Flexible and Adapt
Life will keep on lifeing. It’s unpredictable, and challenges are inevitable. Be prepared to adjust your plan as needed. Flexibility allows you to navigate setbacks without losing sight of your ultimate vision. Bloom and rise through all of your experiences!
5. Seek Support and Accountability
Build up a community of like-minded individuals; accountability buddies to motivate, offer guidance and support you. When life feels overwhelming and decisions become difficult, the support of an experienced and qualified life coach can make all the difference.

6. Practice Self-Care
This may be easier said than done, but building the life you choose is a marathon, not a sprint. It’s important to prioritise (meaningful) self-care to maintain your well-being. Here’a a few suggestions for you:
Mindfulness and Meditation: Set aside 10-15 minutes each day for mindfulness or meditation. This practice helps reduce stress, improve focus, and increase emotional resilience.
Creative Hobbies: Engage in a creative hobby such as painting, writing, gardening, or playing a musical instrument. These activities can be incredibly therapeutic and provide a sense of accomplishment and joy.
Regular Social Connection: Make time to connect with friends and loved ones regularly. Social interactions are vital for emotional support and can greatly enhance your overall well-being.
7. Reflect and Celebrate Your Achievements
Allow yourself time for quiet reflection. Celebrate your achievements, no matter how small. Reflecting on your progress helps reinforce your commitment and provides a sense of accomplishment.
Building the life you envision is a deeply personal and rewarding journey; I’ve been lucky enough to work with many people to help them achieve their work/life/self goals and it’s never been one, linear path for any one of my clients. There have been twists and turns, and ups and downs to navigate, but they’ve been armed with the tools they need to navigate most of what life throws their way.
Bloom and Rise is here for when you feel overwhelmed or uncertain, and need the guidance of a qualified professional who can provide the clarity and support you need to move forward confidently.
